The Paint is Drying!

Today, our class used paint to make fingerprint ants AND we made ink dot alligator pictures. Only a few dried before it was time to go home...So watch out Thursday! Get those refrigerators ready for an extreme art makeover!

Just thinking ahead....

Our harvest party will be Tuesday, Oct. 27. Students may dress in non-scary costumes. By the way, it would be extremely helpful if the costumes were...um...bathroom friendly. Just imagine trying to help a dozen 3-yr.-olds get out and in costumes to go potty. In other words, watch out for one piece costumes with bunches of buttons! Miss Georgeanna and I thank you in advance for your consideration! Happy costume shopping!!

Congratulations Ty!

Congratulations to Ty! He just acheived a major milestone. Ty learned to ride a two-wheeler. He said he doesn't even fall...except once...but it didn't hurt. Way to go, Ty!

A is for apple, aardvark and asparagus

On Tuesday, Miss Cindy's class begins learning the letters of the alphabet! Just to let you Moms and Dads know, we will not be writing the letters. For the letter Aa, we will use the short a sound. Our goal is to have the student recognize the letter and its sound. We will be making "fingerprint ants" which crawl up and down the "ant hill" in the shape of a upper-case A.

We also try to work on vocabulary... so it's not just about apple, ant and animal, but we'll have stories about aardvarks, alligators and astronauts. (Doesn't it make you wish you were 3 years old again?)

Lesson plans also include learning about the number 3. Looking forward to a fun week!

P.S. My laptop is suffering from some life-threatening ailment, so I've been using my hubby's computer to post. I can't upload pictures for now, but hope to have some for you soon.

There's gonna be a floody floody??

Rain? Yes. Flood? No.
Our class learned about Noah and the great flood and it appropriately rained on Thursday. We had our playtime in the gym. The class enjoyed riding the tricycles, rolling on the tumbling mats and playing ball inside.
During art we put shaving cream on the tables and drew pictures and shapes in the cream. We had a blast! What artists we have!

Two by Two

Next week, our class will be learning about Noah and the great flood. We will also be studying the number 2. We'll have fun matching items, sorting things into pairs and reviewing all the colors of the rainbow.

Say "CHEESE"

Just a quick reminder that school pictures will be taken on Tuesday. Wear your best smile!

Miss Georgeanna is Awesome!

Miss Georgeanna is the assistant in our class. She has worked at Hazel Dell Christian Preschool for several years now. I don't know what we would do without her! She is the best! Thank you Miss Georgeanna for all you do!

"Shape-ing" up!

Miss Cindy's class is learning about shapes. We are also adjusting to our routine. Our day is so full of activities. Today, we read a book called Bear in a Square. Cam told us about his grandfather who just saw a real bear when he went hunting. Nicholas said there is a real bear that comes in his room! Alex said the bear that comes in his room is just pretend. Too funny!!

Here are a few pictures of our day....

"Ladies and Gentlemen!" Max, Ty and Nicholas put on a puppet show during Center Time.

Emma and Jillian created some silly Mr. Potato Heads.Ava and Brooklyn are sorting shapes. Ava's elephants are helping.
The sandbox is a favorite on a beautiful day like today. We get to play with Miss Dawn's class on the playground.

YUM! It's snack time!

Alex, Brooklyn, Max, Emma and Nolan.

We worked really hard today holding our crayons correctly and tracing shapes. Moms and Dads, have your child point out different shapes all around you. We have some great "detectives" in our class. They discovered that the eye of "weather frog" on our wall, is an oval inside a circle. That oval was tiny!!! Great job!

Looking forward to Thursday!

Colors, Colors, Everywhere!

What a great week learning about colors! Today we read a book about colors, played color games, picked colored apples, matched "Lucky Duck" colors, lined-up by the colors we were wearing and pulled colorful items from the "surprise IT bag". We even mixed colors to make new colors. Some of our students are very creative...like coloring their pears blue. That's ok! We like creative!

We had a special snack today. Saturday is Brooklyn's birthday and she brought a special cookie to share. It had icing with many colors on it. Happy birthday, Brooklyn!!!
Here's a picture of our class as we began to line up to go to Bible and Singing time. Such a good looking bunch! After "Center Time", we all have to help clean up. Miss Georgeanna has some great helpers!
Next week we will be learning about shapes. We have lots of fun things planned!

First Day Fun!

What a fun day! Our first day of preschool went very well. We were so busy, I forgot to take pictures! Sorry!

Our class talked about our favorite colors and sorted shapes by color. We also began making a book about the color of fruit. One student said, "My mom will be so proud of my book!". So sweet!

During Bible time, Miss Debbie told us about the first and second days of creation. Thursday, we will learn more about creation.

Center time is definitely a favorite for our students! We played together in the kitchen and with cars, blocks and puzzles.

I think we have mastered sitting in our circle "criss cross, applesauce" style. It may take us a few days to get this "lining up" thing perfected...but we're working on it. Nolan was our line leader today and did a great job. So did Cam, our "caboose", and Emma, our door holder. Thanks to all our helpers today. Speaking of thanks...our class learned the sign for "thank you".

Our day was so busy, Miss Georgeanna had to remind me that it was almost time to pack up for home! Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday!

First reactions

Meet the Teacher night was great!

Children's reactions to their new classroom ran a range of emotions....
from...
Ta Da! I'm here

to...
Oh No! I'm here!

Miss Georgeanna and I had a great time meeting everyone. The children had a good time playing in the centers while the parents received information about our daily schedule and procedures. It still amazes me how those little boys have a built in radar that takes them directly to the cars. How they managed to walk directly to the bin of cars without noticing another thing in the room is so funny!!

I'm sure it is going to be a great year!
